An incident was reported on the Seemanchal Express in Fatehpur district of Uttar Pradesh, a 9-month-old baby fell down from the emergency window of the speeding train and the body of the child was recovered after 23 hours lying on the railway tracks near the Faizullapur station on Saturday morning.

PG Security Deposit: Great news for tenants – do you have rights in case of deposit non-refund?
If you are renting a PG (Paying Guest) accommodation, any instance where your security deposit is denied reimbursement when you leave the room clearly comes under the purview of your rights. The latest discussions in legal corridors are such that every situation is not where a landlord or PG owner can simply refrain from reimbursing your security deposit.
What will happen to the security deposit after you leave PG?
Generally tenants need to pay a security deposit to the PG owners when taking admission for renting a room under the contract of tenancy. Upon vacancy of the room, one could claim reimbursement of the deposit on the ground of rent dues or other liabilities outstanding to zero and no loss suffered for the room used by the tenant that is outside the scope of use and wear for the room to which the landlord owner is otherwise entitled and has an interest over to that extent. However, the conditions which constitute the actual basis for claim of refund will depend on the PG or room rental agreement.
What kind of deduction might the owners make from the deposit?
Reasons that could lead to landlord owning or deducting some of the deposit are:
Unpaid rent or additional charges
Damage to the property caused by the tenant
Pre-determined charges as in agreement
Other stated liabilities
It is important to understand that treating ordinary wear and tear as a form of damage caused by the tenant is unethical, and arbitrary deduction might not be legally sustainable.
What should I do if I don’t get back my deposit back?
Save details of all payment receipts of security deposit to you as your PG agreement, transaction receipts by Bank, etc; as well as WhatsApp messages or e-mail correspondence between the tenant and landlord.
