Prithviraj Sukumaran on Bolywood and Malayalam Cinema

Malayan actor and director Prithviraj Sukumaran opened about the distinction between the Malayalam movie business and Bollywood, especially the budgets, casting and traditional approach to building movies. The actor’s remarks come within the backdrop of the rising conversations about regional movies and the shifting Indian movie business.
Prithviraj said, “While there’s been some growth in the Malayalam film industry, it still has a very informal culture of working. I also spoke about how certain processes are different in a different industry.”
Malayalam films are now more widely known across the country and around the world. A few Malayalam films have had successful runs outside Kerala, and actors and directors are becoming more well known across India.
The timing of the conversation is also important as audiences are now more paying attention to stories from local industries. Streaming services have provided viewers the ease of being able to watch movies in other Indian languages.
Prithviraj himself has worked in different industries like Malayalam and Hindi which makes him quite familiar with different Bollywood settings.
